Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of the eight-week session, riders will be well started in the basics of riding and able to demonstrate mount and dismount; adjust stirrups and girth; correct position at walk and trot; transitions; and halt from walk. In addition, they will understand and demonstrate the basics of good horse care including feeding, grooming, and stabling.

Riding and horse care are taught for the most part, in the arena and the barn. The Rider Manual is the primary resource material; however, lessons are not taught directly from the book.
