Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best way to contact the office?
Due to staffing limitations, we do not have a phone number to contact us! Instead, email info@welca.ca for any questions about programming, events, rentals, volunteering, etc. OR accounting@welca.ca regarding payments.
Can I visit WELCA?
Absolutely! You're welcome to come walk around the property any day 6:30am-9pm. But we do have some rules:

You cannot go in to any of the pens

You cannot feed the horses ANYTHING. Our horses are all on specific diets for their health and safety.

You cannot enter any of the barns or buildings apart from the public washrooms or the main entrance

You cannot pet the horses. Horses are animals and they can be unpredictable.
Do you rent horses to the public, provide one-time rides, or run trail rides?
No, WELCA does not rent horses to the public, provide one-time rides or trail rides.
We do, however offer family/ group rides, along with other services! Please see our Event Bookings page for more information and to book.
Do you host Field Trips?
We do! We love to host Field Trips for schools, community programs, youth, seniors, and workplaces! We do our best to customize your event for your participants but you can expect a tour and horse interaction suitable for your group, with the options to organize other activities as well. To book your Field Trip check out our Event Bookings as well as to find out information on other services we offer- unmounted and mounted!
Do I need a waiver for unmounted events or just for riding activities?
If you are handling or interacting with a horse during any of our programs, then we require waivers. You can fill out and submit them through the links below:

Is there funding available for riding?
Yes, there is some funding available through outside organizations. Ones that have been used in the past include the following:
Kidsport Edmonton Application
Jumpstart Kids Application

What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations can be obtained by emailing info@welca.ca. If your email is received outside of office hours, the date of cancellation will be from the date of your initial email. Please note that there may be an administration fee in order to process your cancellation.
Learn to Ride, Mini/Junior Classes, or Camps:
Credit for a future program will be offered up to two weeks prior to the start of your session and all cancellations will be charged a $50.00 admin and processing fee. No credit/refunds will be offered within two weeks of your lesson start date, or once your lesson has started.
Horsemanship:
30 days notice is required to cancel your Horsemanship sessions.
Single day events (Outdoor rides, scavenger hunts, Halloween, Valentine's Day etc):
Refunds will not be offered for single day events.
Donations/Sponsorships:
Refunds will not be offered for donations and sponsorships.
Can I book a make-up lesson?
Make-up lessons are not guaranteed for missed classes, are subject to a $15 administration fee, and depend greatly on availability.
Make-up lessons need to:
- be requested in advance via email
- occur within a week of class that is missed, and
- may take place in a lower level class (depending on availability)
All communication for absences and make-up lessons needs to go through our email: info@welca.ca.
There will be no makeup lessons provided for absences notified after a missed class or if absences are communicated solely to a coach or TA.
